my charity: water birthday campaign 2011!

Posted in Charity

Hi Everyone!

Last year I decided that I wanted to do something meaningful for my birthday. Instead of writing the usual wish-list of shoes, clothing, makeup, music equipment, etc., I created a birthday campaign to raise $2000 for people without clean drinking water.

I ended up raising much more… $2,542 to be exact! This means that 127 people will now have clean drinking water for 20 years! To know that my friends, family, music fans, and acquaintances are willing to help those in need as much as I am was such an inspiration. That’s why I want to give up my birthday again this year.

$5000 is the average cost of an entire water operation. If I can meet my goal this year, then combined with last year’s campaign, an entire water project will essentially be funded! That means about 24 families will be able to have clean drinking water for 20 years!

On December 6th, I’m turning 27 years old, and instead of asking for gifts, I’m asking for $27 or more from everyone I know. All of this money will go to build freshwater wells for people in developing nations.

A billion people in the world are living without clean water. Millions contract deadly diseases from contaminated water. 45,000 people will die this week alone. The lucky ones won’t, but still walk hours each day to get dirty water to give to their families. These facts are staggering!

My birthday wish this year is not for more gifts I don’t need; it’s to give clean and safe drinking water to some of the billion living without it. Join me?

Sincerely,
Jordyn

Jordyn’s Birthday Wish!

Posted in Charity

Every year, my birthday has been celebrated to the fullest by myself, my family, and my friends. Yearly, my mom goes over-the-top to make me feel special on my special day, and I’ve always been surrounded by people who shower me with gifts & make me feel like a princess…

This year, I would like to give up my birthday, because, quite frankly, I don’t need any more “things.” I’ve been so blessed with more than I could ever ask for…water being something that I take for granted daily.

I’m turning 26 years old, and instead of asking for gifts, I’m asking for $26 or more from everyone I know. It’s not going to me, though. All of it is going to build freshwater wells for people in developing nations.

A billion people in the world are living without clean water. Millions contract deadly diseases from contaminated water. 45,000 people will die this week alone. The lucky ones won’t, but still walk hours each day to get dirty water to give to their families.

These facts are staggering…and I want to help make a change in these people’s lives by making my birthday really matter this year.

My birthday wish this year is not for more gifts I don’t need; it’s to give clean and safe drinking water to some of the billion living without it. Join me? Click HERE.

charity: water

Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean drinking water. That’s one in eight of us. charity: water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. 100% of public donations directly fund water projects.

This is Caroline. Beautiful smile, right? She’s smiling because she’s drinking clean water for the first time. She used to walk three hours every day to fetch dirty water. But not anymore. Her village just got a well. Clean water will change everything for Caroline and her community. For every Caroline, there are millions more children hoping to smile like that. Almost a billion people on the planet don’t have clean water right now. Who knows how many people you will impact. This is where it begins. (-mycharity: water team)

It’s amazing- just $20 can give one person clean water for 20 years!

Help bring clean water wells to the thirsty:
